Introduction To R - 2026

The Bioinformatics Resource Center invites you to the following event as a part of our bioinformatics learning series.

Topic:     Introduction To R

Date:      02/04/26 & 02/05/26

Time:      09:30am-4:30 pm

Location: Weiss 305

Course DescriptionR is one of the most popular coding languages in the sciences due to its large community and ease of use. These sessions will be great for entry into coding with R for beginners.

Course GoalsBy the end of the sessions, we hope you will feel comfortable working with simple datasets, i.e., count tables, and be able to create plots.

Course Recommended Requirements: This is an introductory course, so anybody should be able to take part. That said, we would recommend that you have an idea for how you will use R going forward so that you can apply the skills you learn to something you are working on.

These are in-person training sessions. Sessions will be a mixture of presentations and live coding. Participants are encouraged to code along with the instructor.

FAQs

Is this a credited course for Graduate Students?

No. A Graduate School course overlaps with the topics covered in these sessions. Reach out to the Graduate School if you are interested in taking that instead.

I have registered. What now?

After registration, you will receive a confirmation email. We will follow up closer to the course date with additional details about the room and how to set up your computer before these sessions.

I have no programming experience. Is this appropriate for me?

Yes. We will cover all the basics, including setting up your laptop.

When will you cover other topics?

We have many other sessions currently planned. Check our website for a full list of our courses.
